MERCADO NEGRO (Black Market)

From : Tijuana Mexico

T.J.'s Punk rock pioneers in the early 80s.

Founded by: Martin & Jesus Hernandez in 1982 due 82 Mexican money devaluation.

Their music & stile goes from original steady beat punk rock to all kinds of beats and rhythms experimenting like the Clash did into regae,ska,world beat,heavy rock ,dance disco,hiphop and lots of Latin rhythms like salsa,samba merengue ect.

Their lirics are self consciuouness messages as well as personal experiences.

Over nearly 22 years the band has recorded  8 independent productions:

-CONCIENCIA PUBLICA.(1986).

-ABRE TUS OJOS (1987).

-S.A. Anonimous Society(1988)

-CRUZANDO LA FRONTERA(1991)

-CANCIONES NETAS (1992)

-FRAGMENTOS DE AMOR(1997)

NOTES

 (Mercado Negro)
Has been acknowledge to be the first punk rock band to make an independent recording production in the history of Tijuana, the state of Baja California and perhaps Mexico, to sing lyrics in Spanish as well to be the first rock band to produce a video clip of one of the songs of their Conciencia Publica album Sobreviviendo and to be released nationwide thru the big mayor T.V. broadcasting company Televisa. Over the years the band being independent created their own home recording production studio founded back in 1991 helping local bands by recording demos and complete albums.)

CURRENTLY:

Mercado Negro has joined forces and team up with members of one of the most respected bands in Mexico of the nineties TIJUANA NO (Alejandro Zuņiga, Jorge Jimenez and Cecilia Bastida) along are working together on a recording proyect called: MERCADO NO IDENTIFICADO a.k.a. M.N.I. And their title album its: GUERREROS FRONTERIZOS (frontier warriors).

 

The current MERCADO NO IDENTIFICADO (M.N.I.) line up is:

-Alejandro Zuņiga. (bass & drums)

-Jorge Jimenez. (guitar).

-Martin Hernandez. (guitar,voice & bass)

-Jesus Hernandez. (voice&drums).
